Justin is a highly experienced and proven facilitator, university lecturer and motivational speaker who has worked with a diverse cross-section of commercial and public sector organisations in both the United Kingdom and extensively overseas. He delivers stand-alone workshops as well as fully integrated programmes and
individual coaching from team to board level.
His work focuses on practical approaches, skills and understanding that support effective leadership and followership and therefore sustainable high performance. Justin’s approach centres on an understanding of the importance of culture and values and how to employ these as the foundation to continued development, innovation and engagement from and with the people within any given organisation. To support these central themes, he also develops self-awareness, communication, coaching, clarity and decision making within his clients and their organisations.
He is a firm believer in experiential learning as a method of exploring new approaches and challenging clients and uses these methods in all environments from indoor and outdoor venues to overseas expeditions. He ensures that the outcomes from any programme include incremental and specific actions that will ensure the learning is applied back in the work place.
Justin served as an infantry officer in the British Army for 18 years and was awarded the Military Cross for his actions in Iraq in 2004. Leaving in 2007, his final two years were spent as the head of leadership training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. In addition, he has led and participated in over 25 overseas expeditions to the mountains, whitewater rivers and rainforests of the world, including time spent living with Cabecar Indians in Costa Rica. He is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and uses his expedition narratives to support his programmes and to challenge delegate’s thinking.
Justin believes that leadership is everyone’s responsibility. In his view, it is not necessarily related to organisational position or authority but instead is about the will to have a positive impact on the people around any individual. In short, success comes from people, not processes, and it is therefore behaviour and culture that he places the greatest emphasis on.
